This comprehensive review provides a presentation of the expanding literature on quinoxalin-5-ones (quinoxalines) published over the past 25 years since Vol. 35 of the Chemistry of Heterocycles series was last published (inclusive of papers published in the period from year 1987 to 2012). From the primary chemical data through certain biological activity measurements and spectra as relevant, the collection of data is appropriate and is presented in an entirely alphabetical system. Where relevant, detailed spectral characterizations, physical characteristics, or experiments on the synthetic aspects or reaction chemistry of each identifiable compound have been made where appropriate. Continuing the trend developed for previous Chemistry-Heterocyclic Auxiliary Periodicals series volumes 5, 24 and 46, this work incorporates extensive research information included in these benchmark publications to aid readers in comprehending an overly expansive field.
